DAQ: Design Validation & Verification

Home » Portfolio Items » DAQ: Design Validation & Verification
Data acquisition hardware and software is commonly used to test design prototypes to make sure their meet their initial requirements. It is a fast, low cost way to prove that a product performs to its corresponding specification.

A common application for consumer electronic devices is a “drop test.” We have used the digital I/O capabilities of NI CompactDAQ to create a system that elevates the Device Under Test (DUT) to the appropriate height while releasing to cause an expected impact.

While the DUT falls, a sensor passes through a velocity gate that allows us to measure the velocity before it makes impact. The data acquisition system then measures the acceleration the DUT experiences during impact.

By using NI DAQ, we were able to create a rapid prototype setup that helped to validate a prototype before mass-production.
